Rose Said:how can i flag my social security number with the credit bureau ?
We Answered:This is going to sound dumb, but look up credit bureau phone numbers either online or in the yellow pages. Call one of them - TransUnion or Equifax would be best - and you enter information by touchtone phone & that's it. If you flag it with one, it will go to all of them automatically. Afterwards he got some kind of verification notice in the mail.
My husband did it last year & it worked fine. Every time he applied for any kind of credit, the bank or finance company called out house to verify he did it.
Carolyn Said:i need the credit bureau number for canton ohio?
We Answered:Actually, it may not be a local number that you need but, instead, something to take care of your information nationally. There are three large credit bureaus in the US: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. For information about how to contact them (and to periodically get your free credit reports - you're entittled to one from each agency per year.) Visit the Federal Trade Commission website:

Theresa Said:what is the number to call if I want to contact a credit bureau?
We Answered:Go to a site called www.annualcreditreport.com
This is the only true free site to get your credit reports, and is supported directly by the 3 big credit bureaus Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
They will ask you for personal information like SS number, birthday, etc to make sure you are you. They will also ask you 3 or 4 questions unique to you about your credit history with multiple choice questions like "How much is your mortgage payment?"
You can pull 1 credit report from each bureau for free, only 1 time per year.
I regularly pull 1 of the 3 reports every 4 months, that way I get an idea of what's going on. If I see anything suspicious, I'll pull the other two also.
If you want your credit scores too, you can go to www.myfico.com and get copies of your reports and your FICO score. However, they do charge for this service, something like $13 per report and score for each bureau.
