Could a New Zealander help explain how paypal works in NZ?We Answered:
I live in NZ and I use paypal for purchases with Ebay. When I set up my account I had to give them my credit card number. They retain that so any future deals I make, it is automatically charged to the credit card. From what you have said, have you set yours up as Direct Debit? - the money coming out of your Bank Account? If that is the case, yes, you would have to ensure there was sufficient money in that account when you are charged.
I haven't sold anything - but they do all the converting - ie. if you purchase in NZ something in America or UK - they charge you in NZ dollars - the same would apply when payments are made to you, they would convert the currency/
I don't know anything about the Live Journal site. If it is an international one, I would assume they would display the different currencies. If it is entirely your own website, you would have to display this yourself.

Small business in Sydney?We Answered:
If you are talking about more than 2 bottle (Which is the limit you can bring into Australia without paying any kind of duty) you will have to pay a significant amount of tax, customs fees, register your business, apply for an ABN number and then identify a seller in Australia to sell them. If the wine is not from your own vineyard you will likely need to get permission from each of the wineries you plan to sell their wines from to ensure you are not stepping on their toes (i.e. that they already dont import into Australia). The cost for this set up will likely run into more than 50 thousand euros to set up.The other thing - is that Australia has a much larger wine growing region that Italy. So you will not have any buyers here. Most people here wont drink wine from other than Australia, NZ or South Africa.

Do new zealanders like americans moving into NZ?We Answered:
It depends on what you're like. NZers tend to like African-Americans as we think they're cool & American hip hop is popular here with white people & brown people (Maori's & Pacific Islanders). Of course alot of people also hate hip hop but they are still likely to like an African-American for the "they're cool" factor & their charm. It's white Americans that people are less likely to take to but a lot depends on your personality. If you are charming & friendly & aren't acting like the big guy who's come down here to live with the little guys & you're doing us a favour by being here, then you should be fine. People do have a perception that white Americans are somewhat loud and arrogant and truly believe they are the best country in the world, whereas most countries realise there are many other countries in the world, not just them. Also sometimes people assume white Americans are racist & that doesn't go down well here (unless you're going to Christchurch). Be prepared for the fact that Auckland is 50% non white (Maori's, Pacific Islanders, Asians and Indians).
You don't need a degree to open a store, Lol, I thought that was pretty funny! I work as a manager in the corporate world & don't even have a degree. If you're talented then you tend to get promoted regardless of whether you have one or not so I've never bothered. I understand in the USA you can't do anything without a degree but it's different down here. And no it doesn't mean people are less intelligent or that if they went overseas they wouldn't make it doing the same job. Quite the opposite, NZers always do well in the workforce overseas, which is one of the reasons so many of us leave! Better pay overseas.
Surfing is more popular in Australia than NZ, that is, in the places near surf beaches in Australia, like Sydney, Byron Bay, etc. But you will find they already have well established stores for that. Surfing areas of NZ are West Auckland beaches like Piha, Bethells Beach, etc and South of Auckland is Raglan. Also Whangamata in the Coromandel & some East Coast locations in the North Island. There are various other places around NZ re surfing but I'm unsure where exactly. People travel from overseas to go surfing in Australia & NZ, for some reason I notice many of them are Japanese, which surprised me!
I see more skateboarders in NZ than I've ever noticed in Australia & we do have some of those skateboard rink things, whatever they're called. Again you may find we already have established shops for these. You'd need to be selling something different, like a cooler brand than the others or less expensive boards or something. Also I notice alot of kids just buy their skateboards from our el cheapo store, The Warehouse (which is basically our version of Wal-Mart - they are likely to not be very good quality & also they do not sell surfboards).
Penny Said:
Is it fashion or do women in Aus & NZ like to carry small handy, designer bags with them?We Answered:
At those prices, your bags would not qualify as designer. It would be more of a discount price.I would suggest selling yours at street fairs and swap meets. You will not be able to produce the level of volume needed to sell in bulk to major chain discount stores since crochet is hand made.
If you wanted to actually sell as a designer, aim for a price point above $100 US. Focus on using the best materials such as hand dyed cashmere. Then create a marketing campaign and a logo. You will need to have Vogue-styled photos taken of your merchandise, probably with models. Then, create a website and possibly a small print catalgue.
After you have your products and your image, start marketting your pieces to high end boutiques in large cities. I would focus on Sydney, Brisbane, etc. Get the boutiques to want to start carrying your products and then you are in business. Once you can afford it, I also recommend hiring a PR agent.
I have a lot of American experience in this area. Let me know if you need more help.

i want to know if anyone knows of any companies in new zealand who would like to sell electric scooters? We Answered:
I love these scooters and would gladly own one for private use. I would also like selling these if I had any business sense or venue, because I believe in these things. I've seen some drive around Dunedin, and just loved the quiet gliding.Companies that I could see interested in this here in Dunedin might be:
Gilmore Motors (they specialize in Citroen cars, so a slightly avantgarde scooter would look right there, I feel as a consumer)
The Cycle Surgery in Dunedin (they carry bicycles, and people go there looking for two-wheelers)
There's a company called Naturetough, which is quite open to business ventures, in Dunedin. They could also be interested in selling these.
Feel free to contact me for details.

can i sell products featuring the quotes of famous people if i credit them for the quote? We Answered:
Not necesarily; it can be more complex than it seems, since you are doing this for profit then the fair use droctrine might no protect you.http://www.copyright.co.nz/index.php?vie…
Besides if they are alive they can claim you are using their name and image for profit too.
The safest way it would be going for material in the public domain. Almost anything created before 1900 is pretty much in the public domain for anyone to use.
