Daryl Said:

what credit card company only checks transunion for credit check? I have limited credit history and want?

We Answered:

You don't need more credit card accounts. You need more good payment history on your existing credit cards. With those late payments, I'm surprised your score is 717. However, that is probably a Vantage score, so your FICO is probably around 600.

Use the Capital One and Macy cards for small purchases and pay them in full every month. You need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history to improve your score. Then perhaps both credit cards will increase your limit.

It takes many years to build good credit. There is no shortcut.

1 year of credit history and maximum credit card credit limit possible?

We Answered:

Credit limits are based on many factors, including income, your credit score which in itself is partially based on the length of your credit history, and even redlining effects, such as where you live.

I think $1,500 is a good starting amount. Perhaps, after a year of good standing with this card, you can apply for a limit increase.

EDIT to respond about the person who posted immediately below me:

There is no such thing as having too much credit. Creditors only are cautious about lending people even more credit who have a lot of it if they have very low credit scores and have not been responsible with credit.

How likely is AMEX to give out a card to someone with limited credit history?

We Answered:

Right now, in this credit situation. Not likely unless you have a good credit score.

limited credit card history?

We Answered:

It probably means that you don't have much, or any credit history on which the bank can base the decision whether or not to lend you money. Based on your question, I'm assuming they declined you and said it was because "you have limited credit history" (you did not state this, only that you applied).

Search online for a "secured" credit card - there should be some available without any fees - basically, you make a $200-500 deposit to the bank, and that's your credit limit.

They treat it as an ordinary credit card (you pay monthly bills) and after a certain time, usually 6 or 12 months, they refund your deposit.

Even though it's secured (basically, you can't not pay them or they take the deposit), it's still reported to credit bureaus as a regular credit card, so it helps you build a credit history, and you WILL get approved b/c there's no way you can bail on paying them.

have limited credit history and can't open a credit card?

We Answered:

As a student you should be able to get approved for a student card unless you have a negative impact in your credit history. Maybe you should try for beginners card that have No Credit. I like this website that lists cards according to credit requirements. You can apply online and get a decision instantly. I don't think you should have a problem getting approved. Try some other student cards listed on the site below and maybe you'll get approved this time. Good luck!!

Alberto Said:

how can i get a credit card with limited credit history while i have a credit card now?

We Answered:

Credit card companies are quick to respond to the growing trend of Internet users by offering online credit card application. As you might have noticed, many credit card companies whether online or offline for that matter, announce they offer the best credit card online, even with instant approval if you apply for it on their website. This method allows the applicant to get approval within a few minutes after submitting the online application form at the company website. Although this isnít truly instant credit card application, it definitely saves some time when compared to the traditional offline process. The approval process takes only a few minutes, but the credit card company will still need to manually mail you the physical card. This may take up to 10 days before you receive it.

It could take up to a month or two before you receive your credit card if you apply for one via the more tradition ways. You would have to visit the office of the card company personally or call up the customer service hotline to request for an application form to be mail to you. Then, once you have submitted your supporting documents you will need to wait for a reply as the company runs a check on your credit history.

The good thing about applying online for a credit card is that you know if you are approved for it or not within a fairly short time. Another advantage of filling in the application online is that it also allows you the opportunity to compare the cost of credit offered from a lot of different card companies.

There are certain limitations on who is eligible for an instant online credit card application approval. Most instant credit card application offers are targeted to people with good credit records. The competition on the credit market is so high today, that some companies are willing to include people with less than fantastic credit scores in order to get customers. The bottom line is that even if your credit history is not so good, you have the ability obtain an instantly approved credit card. So regardless to what your credit rating is, there is no reason not to use an instant credit card application.

Your credit card application will usually get approved instantly if you maintain a healthy and excellent credit history. However that does not mean that your application will be rejected if you credit history is less than perfect. With so much competition going around in the credit card industry, many companies are willing to take the risk and accept applicants with average credit history. Some of them even provide a card for those people with bad credit.

Before submitting your application online, take the time to do some research. Make sure you visit a legitimate credit card directory to compare card information first. Compare cards and consider the benefits that you want to receive as you do your research. You will also want to read the terms and conditions, yes I know they are enough to put you to sleep, at least once. The important items to take note of are annual fees, interest rate during the introductory period, interest rate after the introductory period, length of grace period and minimum payment amount. Pay particular attention to late payment fees and other unusual penalties. Call up the respective credit card customer service department if you have doubts or any queries with the terms and conditions. Take to time to get the card you want that will serve you the best.
