Rene Said:do credit repair specialists really work and are they expensive?
We Answered:I quote from the 2008 edition of the Consumer Action Handbook "if the information is accurate, only time and hard work and a personal debt repayment plan will improve your credit report. Credit repair companies advertise they can erase bad credit for a hefty fee. Don't believe it".
Terri Said:Credit Repair Specialist Jobs
We Answered:Just keep advertising your job on places like Monster and Careerbuilder and you will find someone. If you are not getting any interest, you may need to change the phrasing in your advertisement or throw in some particulars like what the salary is, benefits, etc. Try something to make it stand out and not sound like a scam or one of those "investment required" jobs.
Joseph Said:Can anybody recommend a credit repair specialist in the Bay Area?
We Answered:You can go to the local credit office in your area. Call consumer credit councelors and ask where the office is. they're a Government agency and do credit counseling but they will know where to go for the other. Good luck.
I've bookmarked this site...
Best of luck.
Christina Said:How do you become a credit repair specialist?
We Answered:Credit repair specialists are a scam. If you want to be seen as respectable, don't go into it.
Tim Said:Credit Repair and Collections, Statute of Limitations?
We Answered:They are scamming you. California statute of limitations only applies to the time limit to seek legal action in civil court to collect a debt. A creditor can try to collect forever if they wish. You would need to send a "cease and desist" letter to the creditor if the debt is "time barred"
They can not have them removed from your credit report either, sometimes they will simply dispute a debt and it might be removed only to show up again once the creditor validates the debt.
The time frame for late payments to be listed on your credit report is 7 years. The time frame for accounts in collection is 7 1/2 years in regards to your credit report. This is per the Fair Credit Reporting Act Running of Reporting Period - Section 605 [15 U.S.C. § 1681c]
You best bet is to stay away before you have to pay.
You can read more about this at the FTC web site listed here
Hope this helps answer your question
Audrey Said:I was referred by Wells Fargo Bank to a credit repair specialist to fix negative items on my credit report?
We Answered:Forget it. You will be out even more money. Use the funds to pay your debts. They promise nothing, do little and yes the problem MAY disappear a cyle and end up righ back on the reports.
Shirley Said:Do credit repair specialists really work?
We Answered:Why on earth would you pay someone to do exactly what you can do yourself? There is NOTHING they can do to "repair" your credit.
Before you pay one single penny, please educate yourself.
I did it all myself. I believe my total expense was around $20, and that was for certified postal charges!
Here's the scoop.
If you have negatives, you pay them. That simple. No "repair" agency can remove negatives from your report what so ever.
They remain on your report for 7 or more years.
If you have items that you wish to dispute, then do it yourself. It's not as hard as it sounds. Believe it or not, if an item has gone to collections, it's easier to dispute and win even if you owe the money!
Get to reading up. This free message board helped me all the way. It's no scam. Just a message board with a whole lot of people who have been there. The education is priceless, and did I mention FREE?
