Violet Said:What are tax returns, how much do we receive back?
We Answered:basically you have:
STANDARD DEDUCTION( based on filing status)
PERSOANL EXMPTION( # of poeple claiming...you+kids ect..)
YOUR TAXABLE INCOME ( look this up in tax table)
this ia tax owed on income for current year
NEXT SEE WHAT YOU HAVE PAID IN AND SUBTRACT WHAT YOU OWE. DO YOU GET A REFUND OR DID YOU NOT PAY ENOUGH THROUGH THE YEAR? THAT'S KINDA HOW IT WORKS BUT THERE'S CREIDITS AND OTHER THINGS TO ACCOUNT FOR. THIS FORMULA IS NOT ACCOUNTING FOR ANY CREDITS. JUST YOUR BASIC 1040EZ FEDERAL TAX FORM
what is meant by claiming 1 or 0 on your I-9 form......

you will find the tax table for a 1040.
This is a good way to find how much tax the person should owe if nothing was taken out on his check. Keep in mind there are several different forms like 1040A, 1040EZ etc.
Most companies do take tax out, if you filled out a W4 and claimed 0, or 1, or 2 etc.
The 0 will take out more tax fromt he check.
At the end of the year, if you made 5000.00 for example, and all the tax for the year taken out was 500.00 federal,
then you look in the tax table and figure out your tax. It might be that your tax is only 300.00. This means you paid too much in and you will get a refund!
It's more complicated than this, but that's how it works.
Tennessee is state tax free.
Texas is/was state tax free.

However, they are not federal tax free.

Paying taxes is what you have to do if you live in almost any country. It's not a good idea to mess with Uncle Sam. You will lose every time when it comes to unpaid taxes.
Rebecca Said:can i file 1040A if i took an early withdrawal on my 401k? if so, does it hurt me tax-wise over a 1040EZ?
We Answered:You can't file either Form 1040-A or 1040-EZ with an early withdrawal. You must file Form 1040 and attach Form 5329.
Your tax liability is the same regardless of what form you file, assuming that you can pick and choose. In your case, you can't pick and choose though; you MUST file Form 1040.
If this was not an early withdrawal you could file Form 1040-A or Form 1040. The tax liability would be the same either way though.
Lisa Said:are the amounts in the tax tables the same for the 1040ez form and the 1040A income tax form?
